Feeling discouraged that your website isn’t attracting new customers?
You’ve spent hours in front of the computer feeling frustrated trying to publish something presentable or you’ve spent good money paying someone else to build one for you.
Either way you’re proud of it. It’s your business after all and it’s a defining moment when you finally have an online presence where new customers can find you.
Isn't that the point of bringing your business into the digital age? So where are all the customers? Your phone isn’t ringing any more frequently than before and your email inbox is like a ghost town. Why isn’t your website generating more customers like the other small businesses around you?
The problem is that most people just throw up a website, choosea few random images and write some text that ‘will do for now’.
The truth is most websites aren’t designed to close customers. Sure, web designers are good at building websites but optimising a website to close new customers is an entirely different skillset.
Having a website that isn’t bringing in new customers is a complete waste, right?
I’m about to share a simple yet highly effective method that will dramatically improve your website and conversions.
Let’s get into it.
You’ve Lost Your Head…Line
Imagine somebody lands on your website from Google or social media and they immediately have to guess what your service is. Like, huh? They’re going to bounce off straight away.
Your website visitors must be able to identify in their minds that they're in the right place within about 3 seconds…if someone has to search around and figure it out you’ve lost them instantly.
Here’s an example of a website with no headline text at all. Ok, we can see a solar panel but there’s nothing really urging us to continue reading. Do they install solar panels? Do they manufacture them? Do they design them?

Compare this with a website that has a clear headline and we can immediately understand what this company offers. If someone is searching for a solar panel installation company and lands here there's a high chance the person would stick around to find out more.

The goal is to make it as easy as possible for your potential customers to know exactly what you are offering and how to make contact with you.
Keep It Suuuuper Simple
This brings me nicely to my next point - simplicity.
Websites that are cluttered, over complicated and confusing lose potential customers almost straight away. Nobody wants to waste time trying to figure things out.
A confused customer is a lost customer and that’s bad news for your business.
Here’s an example of a cluttered header area.

Where do you start here? “Learn more”, “get a quote”, “there's a discount”, ahhhh. My eyes are hurting already.
Don’t you think it’d be better to simplify this header area and have this information laid out neatly further down the page in its own section?
Where’s your CTA?
Ok, so you've fixed your headline, you’ve simplified your website and everything feels much more polished and to-the-point. Now your potential customers feel like they’re in the right place, they like what they see but how do they make contact?
A ‘CTA’ is a call-to-action. You’re asking your potential customer to call you, email you, follow you on social media or whatever specific action you want them to take. Again, make it really easy for somebody to click a button and make contact.
There’s two places that are ideal for this. The first place is in the headline area of your website, which we’ve seen already in the screenshot above.
The second best place to put your CTA is at the bottom of the page so effectively you get the chance to ask them to contact you twice. It’s usually best to use a contact form like the example below.

The Verdict
If you want your website to attract more customers it’s time to make a few changes. A clean, smooth experience wins every time over a confusing, cluttered mess that leaves your visitors feeling lost and confused.
Just using these little tweaks to lay the foundations of a decent web presence can easily double or even triple the amount of leads that come through your website. If you need help making improvements to your website get in touch and we’ll have a look at your site for free.
